So not my forté...

Friends of mine are getting married and they've asked me to do their wedding invitations. The problem? They want an asian feel to them. This is my first whack at it. Hopefully they like it because I'm at a loss for another idea. The first pic is the actual invitation which is 5x5 (picture them with the names on them...). The second pic is the place markers (3x3) and table markers (4 1/4 x 4 1/4). Let me know what you think 'cause I'm really not sure about these. At first I loved them but now I'm getting...uhh...cold feet? Bwa-hahahahaha! Ske-doosh.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Lucky couple, having you design their invitations! Out of curiosity, how many of those will you have to make?

If they know your style, then they shouldn't be surprised. It does have an 'Asian' influence, but still looks like your work. If they are expecting something 'more Asian', then they'll need to be comfortable enough to say so....
A safe bet is to come up with one alternative, challenge yourself further to something you might not normally do. The advantage is that they can say "I want to go more in direction A, or direction B...with just a few alterations (font choice for names, etc.). It's a nice way to let people start a dialogue, especially if they aren't good at stating what they like or don't like. You'll get a better read by having them 'pick' from two you know you already like, and are willing to make easily.
Good luck!
Great work and blog BTW!

Super cute cards! Love the embossed bg on them. Red, black, & white are the perfect colors for these cards!
