Encre, Papier, Ciseaux Sketch Challenge #1

Eeeeep!!! I'm so behind today! I feel like I've been sitting in front of the computer with the phone glued to my ear for 2 days now! (and forum hopping on SCS...Hi Lyssa! Stopped by to have look at my roasted ducks, have you?) OK, on to it!
Here's the sketch that Cindy provided...veddy, veddy intahrestink:

And here's what I came up with:

I'm kinda ripped because I didn't realize I should've been using Night of Navy instead of Not Quite Navy CS and ink until it was too late. One of the thing I love most about SU! is the color matching ease, so when I muff it, I feel like a dork...LOL!
Here's what the EPC Chicks came up with:
Beautiful cards this week, ladies! A special shout out to Marika. Hers knocks my socks off!
So, if any of my readers would like to take a whack at this sketch, just link it back to Cindy's blog. We'd love for you guys to start playing along! When uploading to SCS, use SEPC1 in the key word section. Ske-doosh.
stamps: sock monkey & accessories, cute and curly, canvas BG

papers: bleuets du lac DP, oolive CS, nqnavy CS, bashblue CS, water color paper, wwhite CS

Just one of those cards...

First off, I'd like to thanks Anne at Bricole Anne and Carmen at Stampin' Addiction for nominating me for these awards! I really appreciate it and I think you guys are just great, too! Carmen is a wonderful blogging buddy who always has something positive to say. Anne est une étampeuse qui est full talent et je suis contente de l'avoir connu à cause de ma passion pour l'étampage! Merci les filles! Thanks again, girls! I'm supposed to nominate 5 other bloggers...that won't be hard as there are a tonne of amazing women out there!
2. Heather at Stamp with Heather
3. Jodi at Stamp a Latte

As for this card, it's not one that is a joy to send but I'm hoping it'll bring a smile to her face. Phil's cousin is losing her battle to cancer. I know that in the grand scheme of things, a card isn't much but I know how happy I am when I receive unexpected mail. Anyway, we're thinking of her and her family often. Have a nice day.

A present for Chantal...

I made this sign for the door of our Behavior Tech./Guidance Counselor at our school. She's really not a crafty person but she loves everything us paper craft freaks bring to the school to show off. Can I get a WHUT-WHUT for the top note die?!? It's midnight and I've been on the computer all evening...yawn. Ske-doosh.

No recipe tonight, ladies. I'm knackered.

What do you guys think?

I want to make a few of these and take a picture of them for my new blog header. I fiddled around with it awhile ago and put the picture of Logan on the fence and never went back to fix it. The only thing I don't like about the tutorial is that it asks you to score a piece of 12 x 12 CS. There's a big piece of it that gets cut out and not used so maybe try to alter the scoring so the excess piece can be used for something else. Since my blog is called The Squareheaded Stamper, I thought cubes made with SU! stuff would be fitting. Why they Squareheaded Stamper, you ask? French Canadians have a nickname for non-French Canadians. Les têtes carrés. Squareheads. Don't ask me why they call us that because I have no clue. Cindy, do you have an answer for this? Marika? Pascale? All I DO know is that I embrace the nickname whole heartedly. Ske-doosh.
papers: summer home simply scrappin'
accessories: scallop punch, clear buttons, twine, boquet blossom buttons, brads, filigree brads, big shot sizzlets , boho blossom punch

First ever Encre, Papier, Ciseaux Inspiration Challenge!

I've got to say, I'm pretty excited about being a part of this team. I'm really looking forward to seeing where it's going to take us. When I first saw the card that Cindy sent me as inspiration, I was a little bit apprehensive about what to do. I've been playing around with the Zindorf techniques and this is what I came up with. To truly appreciate this card you'd need to see it in real life. It's embossed within an inch of it's life! I've really got to get me a light tent so I can start taking better shots of my cards...add this to the list of things that I can't seem to find time to do.

The stamp set is Happy Camper with a twist. He looks like a well fed polar bear.... I used my markers to outline the bear before I stamped him and then slathered him in versamark, doused him in clear EP, and then heated that bad boy up to give him a healthy, shiny coat. The camper was kind of done the same way only I stamped it first in craft white and then outlined it. To tell you the truth, it was pretty late when I made the main image for this card so I can't be entirely sure of the details. All I know is, it started out a hot mess and then turned out pretty cool. The envelope is a large vellum envelope that, for the life of me, I will never understand why they were discontinued. I bought 3 packs of each when they retired and now I hoard them like they are made from gold. Silly Brandi.

Go have a look at the other chiquitas creations, as well! Feel free to play along with us, too! If you make a card, post a link to it on Cindy's blog.
IF YOU MAKE THIS CHALLENGE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POST THE LINK TO SEE YOUR BLOG!!! THE MORE WHO PLAY, THE MORE FUN!

Gorgeous card as always! I love what you do with SU! stuff, always inspiring! My fave color combo is sage and chocolate, so soft and wonderful!
November 10, 2008 11:42 AM

What are the odds of THAT happening??...ummm...well...1 in 34, I guess. Narf.

So, Brandi Parshley, the lady with the wicked awesome name, send me your snail mail address and I'll get your winnings shipped out to you a.s.a.p. I'll be adding something hand stamped by me in the package and I'd love to tell you what it is but it's not done yet. And by not "done", I really mean not started/designed/even remotely have an idea of what it will be...ahem. Never fear! I work well under pressure!

So, thanks to you all for playing! It warms my heart that there are at least 34 of you that like my stuff!

Tomorrow is the day for the first ever challenge for Cindy Major's Inspiration Team! Come back and check it out! I really hope some of you will take the time to play along with us!

RAK from Miss Major

Lookie, lookie what Cindy sent me! It's not the first card I've received from her, by far. She's one of those awesome uplines that sends cards to her downline. She got talent sprouting from her ears!!! Don't forget that on Friday, her new Inspiration Team (yup, I'm a part of those lovely ladies...see this post for more info.) will be posting their stuff. Come back and have a looky-loo!

Also, don't forget to leave a comment with your fave color combo in my blog candy post found just beneath this post! I've had almost 500 visitors since I posted the blog candy and, to my surprise, I've only had 24 comments! It's FREE STUFF, PEOPLE!!! C' MON!!! LOL! Vous-pouvez laisser des commentaire en français, aussi!!!

Have a great afternoon everyone! Ske-doosh.

My very first ever BLOG CANDY!!!

I'm so excited to be rolling up on 20 000 hits on my blog that I thought I'd give some, 'ow do we zay?...zee bon bons de blog? So in honor of this milestone, I'm giving away the level three hostess set, Window Dressing! I know, I know...I'm a super-generous, awesome chick. You don't have to tell me twice...LOL!

I'd like to know a bit more about the people that are visiting me and inflating my already over-inflated ego...ahem. I'd love for you to add your fave color combo in with your comment to be eligible to win the stamp set. I'll do the draw on Thursday (I'm crazy busy this week!!!). I'm really looking forward to seeing how many people will enter. I know there are some lurkers out there and I'd love to hear from you! If you guys are really nice, I'll add a hand stamped gift from me! HUZZAH!
Above are the cards I used for my WS's this weekend. They're CASE-d from the cards that I saw on the Holiday UStamp site. They're wrapping things up for this session and I can honestly say that Heather and Dawn are doing an amazing job with Ustamp. Click on the blinkie to the left and you can find some more info. It's SO worth it!
I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys this week! Ske-doosh.

Sketch Challenge on Paper Craft Planet!

Susanna Boyd at Card of the Week has been hard at work re-vamping the Card of the Week forum. It has been renamed Paper Craft Planet and seems to be really taking off! I have a ton of respect for Susanna for not only being an amazing paper crafter but for also being a HUGE source of inspiration for the stampers of the world. She compiles so many samples and ideas for us every week that it's a "one stop shop" for inspiration.
My card was a really fun one for me to do as it was made with my...gulp...BIG SHOT!!! It came last Friday and I've had no time to play with it yet! This is my first creation with it and I couldn't be happier with the result. What an amazing machine! I've got yet another WS tonight so I need to do a bit of laundry beforehand. Have a great day, everyone! Ske-doosh.

Another 3x3 box...

One of my best customers is having yet ANOTHER workshop at her house tomorrow and she asked me if I wouldn't mind doing something a little different this time. Usually, I demo a couple of things and then we do a make and take. Well this time, we'll be making this box. Just the box, not the cards. This one is an example I made that has retired DSP on it. The ones the ladies will be making is made with Frosty Day DSP. Unfortunately I didn't have enough for the example as I am running VERY low on that paper. I'm eeking by with what I have left to prepare a class for next week so I had to scrimp a bit. Last year, I ended up re-order x-mas paper and then got stuck with it. I won't be making that mistake again this year! I'll try and take a pic of one of the finished boxes tomorrow night. That box is usually a winner so I hope they like the project!

I have some fun news, as well! My wonderful, awesome, talented upline, Cindy Major is starting a creative team on her blog and guess who one of the chicks is? ME! YAY! Cindy decided to choose a few Québec demos to be on her team. Go check out her blog to see what we'll be up to...I think you'll like what you see!!! Here's the team:

I'll be quiet again until Sunday or Monday as I have a WS, like I said, tomorrow night and Saturday night. The one on Saturday is all new ladies so I'm looking forward to it! You all have a fantabulous weekend. Ske-doosh.

A wee break...

I'm going to take a wee blogging break this week. I'm up to my ears right now and am finding it hard to balance everything. I'm loving all of you ladies that visit my blog regularly and fill me up with the positivity of your comments. I'll be back on the weekend to post a few things and am thinking a bit of blog candy is in order at the beginning of next week. Bear with me. I'll be back. In the meantime, here are some of the cutest boys I know...ske-doosh.
They might not be cards, but man, they're wicked awesome anyway! LOL!
