A wee box...

I love these 3x3 boxes from SCS. I've got a butt load of Ginger DP left over so I apologize for the monotony in color choices on my blog lately. I started making this set last night and quit because I wasn't feeling it. I'm glad I came back to it because it turned out great. I told myself I was going to go to bed early tonight. Narf. Midnight and I have become best friends. 1 a.m. is a bit of a jerk though. I wouldn't be surprised if I kicked 2 a.m. in the nards the next time I see him...;)
Ske-doosh.

Je pense à toi...

I really don't know about this one. I need to start taking my pics in the daylight again. Kay, I'm off to bed. I'm dead tired. Ske-doosh.
EDIT: I've had some people ask how I did the flower image. I stamped it on water color paper in Groovy Guava. I then outlined it with Chocolate Chip marker. I then used my aquapainter with very little water in the brush and passed it over the image to make a kind of water color blur. Thanks for your interest!

7 random facts about me....

My blogging buddy, Dragana at the Happy Inker recently tagged me. Go have a looky-loo at her blog. She's a real sweetie. I'm supposed to tell 7 random facts about myself and then tag 7 people back but it would be too hard to choose. So instead, I'm going to take this chance to selfishly talk about myself:

1. I chew the inside of my mouth when I'm nervous or bored...or tired...or cranky. Ok, i just chew the inside of my mouth. Gross habit and makes me look like a goof but there it is.

2. My husband and I met in a bar while I was living in Jasper, Alberta. He barely spoke English at the time and I spoke NO French. Now that we are both fluent in each other's languages, I'm amazed we made it through that period of our lives and still managed to get married. He is the love of my life.

3. In the bar mentioned above, I was a bouncer for 2 and a half years. I was not averse to throwing sloppy drunks out by the pants.

4. Sometimes, just sometimes, I like the smell of my own farts.

5. I used to be a rugby player and it boggles my mind that I used to be able to run around a pitch for 80 minutes chasing a ball. Now i get winded carrying the laundry down the stairs. Yeesh. I gotta get back into shape!

6. I worked backstage at the Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge Tour when it came to Edmonton. Charlie Watts got me a cup of tea because, and I quote, "You look a bit knackered, love. Would you like some tea?"

7. This one isn't really about me but can be linked back to me...my hubs makes THE best mashed potatoes on the planet. What's the link back to me, you ask? I love to eat them. Simple.

100 posts and a Welcome card...

Skyler is as sick as a dog, as am I. This greatly reduced my stamping time this weekend. I'm OK with it though because he was SO cuddly that I took full advantage. We even had a nap together on the couch this afternoon. I had to change my shirt about 5 times since this morning because of the sheer quantity of snot he's producing but, hey, that's what mom's are for, right? We're just one big walking, talking Kleenex. Now that I've sufficiently grossed you all out, let's move onto the card, shall we?

I case'd the idea for this card from Carol at Carol's Card & More. She's in my upline or sideline or something like that. Anyway, I found her site through Josée Smuck who is also my upline. Talented bunch 'o chicks Josée's affiliation. Anyway, I've always wanted to have a house with cedar siding. There was a house that I walked by almost everyday in Jasper when I lived there that made me sigh every time. Super cute. I live my dreams through card stock. What can I say?
Bedtime. Ske-doosh.

WSC 59...All hail Beate!

I love this sketch. I cut the main strips a wee bit too short so I added the ribbons. I then gave myself a pat on the back for my ressoucefulness. Big head Brandi. The colors in the photo are off but I'm sure you all get the gist, right? I'll be back to post tomorrow fo' sho'. I'm taking a stamp day for mommy. My hubs took me out on a date last night so he earned some points for today. I love that man. Ske-doosh.

Long Notes Together

I bought the In Colors '07 long notes when they retired and had yet to use them sooo...voilà! It's a spot-light card, I guess. My friend Sandra-Lee had used this idea to make a card for a friend of hers a while back and I always found it to be a super nice card. The idea was inpired by a card Beate did for her inspiration challenge. The build-a-brads seem out of place to me but it's almost 1 a.m. and I'm just going to cross my fingers that it'll look better in the light of day. If not, I'll just give the card to someone I don't like. LOL! Just kidding. It's going to someone awesome. Not as awesome as me, but pretty awesome all the same.

Oooh! Speaking of a big, fat heads...my blog hit 10 000 visits!!! I'd love to say I have blog candy to give but I'm not that organized. Instead, I'm just going to say a BIG HUGE THANK-YOU to all you wicked awesome people that keep coming back for more of my creative ramblings. I can't begin to tell you how much happiness it gives me to know that there are people in the world that enjoy my work. I was told by almost every teacher I had that art was not a viable option for me. All I have to say to them now is...HA HA SUCKAAAAAAHS! ...ahem. So, thanks to all you rubb-ah lov-ahs out there. You all rock out loud. Ske-doosh.

This is the page I made on Saturday night at Émilie Bélanger's place. She's my upline here in town and I'm lucky to have such great support from her. She's an amazing scrapbooker and wonderful stamper. It was really nice to spend the evening with her and to get a chance to scrap a bit. It's kind of hard getting back into it because I've been so focused on cards lately. I think it turned out OK. It's from a sketch by Kelly Noel in Scrapbook Etc. The photo was taken when Skyler was about 6 months old. There's a wonderful place close to my in-laws in St-Nicolas, Québec to go apple picking, pumpkin hunting, and picnic-ing. I picked the title "Grosse Face de Citrouille" which translates to "Big Pumpkin Face" in English because he looks like a round little ball. I don't remember him having such chubby cheeks! Gotta go back to work. Have a great day! Slater, skaters.
materials used: thickers, 3 bugs in a rug patterned paper, WRMemory Keepers eyelets, basic grey chip board letters, stampin' up! bling brads, crochet flowers unknown.

I'm all over Beate's sketch like a fat kid on cake. It got my mojo pumpin'. I'm going to my upline's house this evening to do a bit of scrapbooking. I can't remember the last time I made a page. If it's not too embarrassing, I'll post it tomorrow. Ske-doosh.

My inner perfectionist won't shut up.

You may all roll your eyes at this post but I HAD to do it. The photo I took of the monochromatic so saffron card was taken at midnight in my basement with a flash. I can't stand it. So I'm re-posting a day shot of the card. Laugh all you want. I'm going to kick the crap out of my inner perfectionist now. Have a great weekend!

My first crack at monochromatic...

It's late so I'll be quick. First, thanks to all who expressed concern about my belly problems. My stomach feels a little wonky still today but I'm sure I'll be fine...until the next time it happens. LOL! I've passed every test there is to be passed and it turns out that I just have a fragile stomach. No more Mexican food for me! I'm more of a sushi girl myself so if I just cut out the wasabi, I'll be alllll goooood. Thanks again for all your well wishes. You ladies make me feel pretty darn good! I know I started this post out by saying, "First,..." but there is no Second. I'm going to bed now. I'm bagged, man. Have a fantabulicious Friday! Ske-doosh.

p.s. this photo doesn't show the detail very well. I just noticed how poor it was when I posted. Just imagine it 10x better IRL. Who's that girl with the big head? Oh wait...that's me.

Wanna see what I've been up to?

I was scheduled to give Andrea Walford's Tart and Tangy class for 2 groups of 10 people so I got the bright idea to cut both classes at once even though they're 3 weeks apart. I'm happy it's done but I think I'd cut them separately next time. Whew. If you'd like to know more about Andrea's amazing classes, just click on the Demo to Demo icon in the left column. All I can say is, cha-CHING! Time saving, money makers those class planners are.
Here's a super cute 3D flower that I learned to make from a great video tutorial on the oh-so-talented Jenn Diercks blog. She rocks out loud. Go check out her site here. Please excuse the poor stamping of the word "bisous". I'm wicked tired. I spent the night in the hospital last night. I've developed a bit of a fragile stomach in the past year and for some unknown reason I keep having stomach spasms. So, after my #1 club wrapped up last night, I started having stomach pains. I tried to tough it out but ended up going to the emergency room at 2 a.m. I'm fine now but I gotta say, I'm pretty fed up with the whole situation. I'm done whining. I'm going to bed now. Slater, skaters.

WSC 57

We've having supper with friends this evening and I can't wait. Logan is best friends with their son, Raphaël so supper with them is always a blast. We usually set up the playpen in their master bedroom and put Skyler to bed when he's had enough. We then spend the rest of the evening chatting, laughing and having a few happy pops to keep things interesting. Carole makes a wicked Lychee Martini. Claude has an amazing salad dressing that he refuses to share. I made them this card to say thanks for the good times we've had with them. It's also the WSC from Beate! Two birds, one stamp. Have a great Saturday!

By popular demand...

I've had a few people ask me to start putting the recipes for my stuff on my blog. I'm flattered because that means people are actually casing what I'm creating and that feels pretty good. So for the masses (chuh) I'm starting tonight. So, when I'm tired and cranky with my students at school tomorrow, I can blame you guys. ;) This is another project from UStamp. If you guys haven't gotten in on this action, it's not too late. Sign up and tell them Brandi sent you!
I spent the better part of my morning at the hospital with Skyler. For those of you that don't live in a small town with a serious lack of doctors, that's what we do here when our kids are sick. He has laryngitis and sounds remarkably like a barking dog when he coughs. Not much we can do about it apparently but the doctor was really nice. I was envisioning a quiet afternoon of stamping while he napped. (Skyler, not the doctor) But, no. Unfortunately, Skyler took it upon himself to be somewhat of a third leg to me today. Needless to say, it's midnight again...yawn. Slater, skaters.

Leftovers...

When I made the card for Beate's WSC, I had some left over "tiles" from the fab flowers. I REALLY like how the basic gray one turned out. The other one? ...meh.

I joined a SU! only blog group and I'm digging these ladies styles. You can take a gander at their art by clicking on any of the links under the Group #3 Chicks- SU! only heading on the left hand column. I don't know if they like me actually referring to them as "chicks". I'm a chick too and it's a term of endearment coming from me! Once again, it's midnight and here I am posting. You see how much I love you guys?? Going to bed now. Ske-doosh.

p.s. hey, is it just me or do you guys get a rush out of hitting spellcheck and realizing you've made no mistakes?...ok...I guess it's just me...the nerd. Ahem.

WSC 56...Finally

What a week. I won't bore you all with the details but I will say that I supremely missed stamping this week. I've put Beate's weekend sketch challenge on my priority list of things-to-do-in-my-crazy-weeks. I love them and find I'm pretty creative when I do get to do them. Man, I feel like I'm not even making sense. So, here's the card. I'm going to make a big effort to try and post more than I did last week so bear with me, k? Slater, skaters.

Back to work...

You guys are going to be seeing a lot of post and dashes for a while. I started back to work today and seeing as how I mostly stamp in the evenings after the chillin's are in bed, I take my pictures the next day in the daylight. That means I'll be taking most of my pics at lunch. That's a long explication for something you guys probably could care less about and you're saying to yourself, "Why doesn't she just get to the card?"

This project was made from a PDF from UStamp. I altered the design just a bit and this is what I came up with. Click on the blinkie to the left if you'd like to have more info or to join. It's so worth it. Tell them Brandi sent you! Slater, skaters
